Finding a life coach
I am a life coach by profession who also happens to be a millennial, I am 20+ years old and I have been in the life coaching field for 3 years and 8 months.
Life coaching is simple to understand when you have a goal and you are not able to attain it, a life coach is someone who can help you overcome your hurdles successfully, to most of my clients this is the simple part- Understanding and acknowledging that they need a life coach.
However, Before interacting with my clients, the first thing that I make sure I understand is why they picked me as their coach and not anyone else? You see, just like the clients, we coaches also have our personalities that makes us function in different ways, I, for example, believe that in order to achieve future goals, past can be the catapult and so I prefer knowing my client and their story in brief similarly, different coaches have different approaches to solve problems. Finding the life coach who compliments your goals and vision is more important than finding the life coach himself.
From my collective experience, here are some tips to help you find the right life coach
- Research, Research, and more research! The life coach that you have shortlisted or have chosen to connect with might have their own website or a social media profile. You can always read up on their description and try to figure out if their ideas, opinions, and perspective on things are the same as yours.
- Talk to them about their coaching style- Once you have established contact, even before employing a life coach, feel free to ask about their style of coaching, their plans with you or how they aim to take up and understand your goals, This is a great way to connect with your coach and see their side of the grass!
- Ask for a free consultation- Life coaching is an ongoing process that requires constant involvement from both the parties, asking for a consultation is not wrong, you get to test the waters with your coach and see how the compatibility fits, again a great way to find yourself the right life coach!
