How do you know if you are the right fit for a potential client?

As a coach, one of our top priorities is to help every client of ours. But the reality is that as much as we might want that, it’s just not possible to help everyone. If you are relatively new to coaching, you would have faced this situation more than once.

As a coach, you will be getting lot of request from all kind of people from different geographies with a wide range of issues, challenges, and needs. And at times addressing all the request can be challenging for an experienced coach also.

I got introduced to a coaching platform called “Achiever Network” by one of my colleague who has found this platform very helpful for both coaches and clients. ACHNET as its fondly called by all its users is an online platform which matches coach experience and skill-set to client’s requirements and gets them connected. I have access to clients profile to study their background, understand their career goals and also converse with them through the platform. I go through the request raised by the client and imagine myself having a conversation with the client on the platform. I imagine what I would say to them and how I would navigate that first conversation.

Even though I want to help everyone as you probably do, there are many times when I use this process and I find myself at a loss for what I would say or how I would help them. That is when I know that I am not the best fit for that particular client.

There are other times, however, when I know exactly what I would say to them and how I would help them with their challenges. That is when I know that I am the ideal coach for that client and I can recommend myself as a coach for him or her with confidence.
