The inner critic or the critical inner voice is a concept popularized by psychology and psychotherapy which is known to be a sub personality that judges and demeans a person, simply put that voice in the back of your head that constantly tells you that you are not good enough is an inner critic

We all have at some point or another had a conversation with our inner critic and most of the times these conversations have left with feelings such as shame, deficiency, low self esteem, self doubt and perhaps even depression.

Inner critic can be very fatal especially in our career development and the way we approach changes. If you feel that your inner critic is holding you back from giving your best at work and depriving you of your potential, here are 3 simple tips to turn that inner critic into an inner coach, doing so not only helps you to have a more positive outlook towards all the areas of your life but also helps in advancing forward in your career by unlocking your true potential and locking away all the negativity.

Tip 1: Name your inner critic

The voice in our head is constant and no matter what we feel like we always struggle to shut it down, addressing your inner critic by a name is a step towards detaching from seeing it as your own voice in the head, be creative with the name, make sure that the next time you start collecting negative thoughts, your named inner coach takes over and starts putting a positive spin on those thoughts.

Tip 2: Be Grateful

Inner critics can sometimes be helpful, the things that the critic is pointing out with some situations might actually be concerns that you need to think about. Remind yourself that your anticipation might be right and that you will or already are making preparations to tackle it. This not only helps view your inner critic as a coach but also is a useful way to feel more confident and that everything will turn out to be OKAY

Tip 3: Be vocal

When your inner critic can’t be shut down even after you try immensely, it is probably because you are feeling vulnerable and its okay to be vulnerable. Understand that this is a natural feeling and seek help from anywhere you see fit, maybe your peers, co workers or even your boss can help calm that critic.

Even though inner critic turned inner coaches can have a positive impact on your way of seeing things, the problem is that our inner coaches are limited to our thinking and is limited, the best way to always be on top of your psychological game is to constantly be in touch with a coach who can actually help make an all round impact. At Achiever Network finding these coaches just got easier and more efficient. You can review the coaches, assess which part of your professional life needs help and simply ask for help without ever worrying about the international barriers.
